How Our Organic Tea is Grown

Idulgashinna Plantation: A Pioneer in Organic Farming

At TEA TOP, our organic teas are sourced from the Idulgashinna Plantation, a tea estate with a rich history and a pioneering spirit in the world of organic agriculture. Established in 1984, Idulgashinna quickly emerged as a leader in organic tea farming, earning its organic certification as early as 1989. This commitment to sustainable farming was further enhanced when the estate adopted biodynamic farming practices in 1999, a holistic approach that goes beyond organic.

Biodynamic Farming Practices

Biodynamic farming at Idulgashinna focuses on creating a self-sustaining, balanced ecosystem within the plantation. This method emphasises the use of natural resources available on the farm to enhance soil health and plant vitality. Special preparations made from fermented manure, minerals, and herbs are meticulously applied to restore and harmonise the essential life forces of the farm. These practices not only improve the nutrition and quality of the tea leaves but also elevate their flavour, offering a truly unique taste experience.

Commitment to Fair Trade

The estate's dedication to fair and ethical trade practices is another cornerstone of its philosophy. Since 1992, Idulgashinna has operated under the Fairtrade banner, ensuring that its workers are treated fairly and that the community benefits from sustainable development. The plantation also recognises the subtle influences of the cosmos on farming, integrating these elements into its agricultural practices to further enhance the health of the soil, plants, and animals.
